Zelle is a children’s author and medical doctor from Queensland, Australia, with a background in psychiatry and mental health.

She is particularly interested in how children interpret the world around them, and how stories can help them develop emotional awareness, empathy, and confidence in navigating challenges.

Alongside her medical career, Zelle holds a degree in Creative Arts, where she developed her passion for storytelling. Her writing reflects a blending of science and imagination, often incorporating real-world details from Australian wildlife and ecosystems.

Her work is inspired by time spent in some of Australia’s most distinctive natural environments, including the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef, where she draws ongoing inspiration from the complexity and interconnectedness of nature.

Zelle collaborates with illustrator Nathaniel Eckstrom, whose expressive artwork enhances the humour, tone, and emotional depth of her books.

She continues to write nature-based adventure fiction that encourages curiosity and bravery, and empowers young readers to become guardians of the wild.
